Information technology professional Ramanujam, who is also an author, made a startling discovery on his way to work earlier today.
“I was flabbergasted,” he told our science and technology correspondent. “I was riding my motorcycle to work and looked down to see if my eyeglasses with photochromic lenses still hung from my shirt. My mouth went dry when I realised that the glasses had developed a tint. That, made me feel WOW! I am not even wearing them and the glasses have grown dark on their own.”
Ramanujam said he had believed all along that it was necessary for photochromic eyeglasses to be worn for them to react to the Sun and grow darker. “Why call them eyeglasses otherwise?” he reasoned.
When asked what he intended to do next, given that he had discovered a hitherto unknown phenomenon, he said, “I’ll start calling myself Dr. Ramanujam to start with. And then apply for a patent perhaps?”
